Al-Azhar Al-Sharif has strongly condemned the Iranian aggression targeting the United Arab Emirates. Furthermore, His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb issued an official statement addressing this development. Moreover, Al-Azhar announced its categorical rejection of all forms of attacks targeting civilians. In addition, the statement denounced the targeting of economic and vital infrastructure. Consequently, Al-Azhar emphasized the imperative of fully respecting state sovereignty.
Sharia and Legal Perspective
In this context, Al-Azhar clarified that this escalation constitutes a serious violation. From another angle, the statement characterized the targeting of national assets as “religiously forbidden aggression (Baghy).” Additionally, the text highlighted that these attacks directly threaten the security of peoples. As a result, Al-Azhar described these actions as a blatant violation of international law.
Urgent Call to Halt Hostilities
Therefore, Al-Azhar called for the immediate cessation of these hostile attacks. Moreover, the statement demanded a definitive end to the terrorizing of innocent civilians across the region. Conversely, the Grand Imam underscored the importance of respecting principles of good neighborliness among states. Likewise, he urged all parties to fully commit to an immediate ceasefire. Subsequently, Al-Azhar affirmed that dialogue and mutual understanding remain the only viable path to resolving crises.
Negotiations: The Sole Path to Conflict Resolution
Finally, Al-Azhar concluded its statement by calling for recourse to the negotiating table. On a separate note, it asserted that dialogue represents the only course guaranteeing peaceful dispute resolution. Accordingly, Al-Azhar appealed to all stakeholders to prioritize the supreme interests of peoples over the language of arms. In conclusion, the statement warned of the dangers inherent in perpetuating military rhetoric. Thus, Al-Azhar reaffirmed the necessity of safeguarding the assets and stability of the Arab and Islamic nation against any external threats.
